What does it mean to the brand?
Ethan Brown:Its really exciting!
Its important that people have a firm understanding of the health benefits of plant-based meat versus justplant-based eating.
As plant-based eating becomes more mainstream, theres a lot of focus on the health claims around plant-based meat.
Nutrition is really important to us and its why weve never really done perfecting the products.
Even after something comes out, were still working to make it even healthier and better tasting.

But innovation is at the core of what we do.
Besides that, they also have to consider sustainability and cost.
It makes their jobs harder, but it results in better products in the end.
For example, youve chosen to focus more on fast food chains than high-end restaurants.
EB:Itshugely important to us.
When affordability is a factor, it makes it more accessible to a greater number of people.
Speaking of accessibility, KFC is the latest place selling Beyond Meat with Beyond Fried Chicken.
Is it on the menu permanently now?
EB:Working with KFC has been so fun.
The response was just amazing.
This isnt something were pushing on consumers; its something they want.
Does it also mean well soon be able to buy Beyond Meat chicken in stores sometime soon?
EB:Yes, thats something you’re free to expect from us.
We dont have an exact timeline for the new release, but its something were excited about.
How has COVID-19 affected Beyond Meat?
EB:Its been harder for us for sure.
Before the pandemic, our sales were 50 percent retail, 50 percent food service.
Now, were over 80 percent retail.
So thats been a tough pivot that so much of our business on the food service side went away.
But thankfully, things really picked up for us in retail.
I think whats important for everyone to remember is that the pandemic isnt going to last forever.
This isnt the first pandemic and history has shown that the economy will come back.
But they recovered from that and we will recover from this.
Just some light pandemic reading material.
But it just shows that what were going through now is temporary.
It wont last forever.
