Next, you want to give the bottom of your stems a nice slanted cut.
Some florists recommend cutting your stems under running water to prevent air pockets from getting into the stem.
With grocery flowers, you dont know how long theyve been sitting out there, says Nesbit.

If youve purchased any greenery, start with that or your heaviest, bulkier flowers, he says.

Ill do it that way quite often.
I think its just quicker for me.
Change the water every single day, says Nesbit.
That fresh water is truly key for long-living flowers.
Once you run out of food, just adding more water is fine.
Finally, be sure to give your stems a trim every two or three days.
