Are avocados worth the pop in?
Heres what a nutritionist thinks:
I have to admit, Im a little surprised its just now happening.
After all, theres already avocadoice cream, milk, andportable avo toast.
(Weve also been using avocado oil on regular chips now for years.)
…
But it turns out that making puffed avocado snacks was tricky to execute.
But even figuring that out wasnt the end of the road.
Co-founder Alex Kost explains that making a puffed snack from avocado flour had never been done before.
There wasnt a tried-and-true blueprint they could use, so it took a lot of trial and error.
Fugman and Kost were kind enough to send me a few bags to taste-test.
(I have a tough gig, I know.)
TBH, I wouldnt know they were made of avocado just by trying them.
(If anything, the rice flour has a stronger taste.)
And, like, other puffed snacks, the texture is so darn satisfying to bite into.
They are dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan, which makes them friendly to many different kinds of eaters.
(The vegan cheddar has 290 milligrams of sodium per serving.)
The puffs also have a small amount ofpotassium, with 46 milligrams per bag.
(Although its recommended to get 4,700 milligrams a daywhich would bea lotof puffs.)
The bottom line: Theres no snack that can beat the avocado in its purest form.
And if youre an avocado super fan, theyre a no-brainer.
