Health exists on a gradient, she adds.

We dont need to eat pristinely to be healthy.

It means that you dont ever need to second-guess whether youre hungry enough to warrant eating.

Its not the hunger-and-fullness diet, says Tribole, who sees intuitive eating misrepresented this way all the time.

These strategies are also not meant to control your weight or food intake.

Its misappropriating our work and using it in a way that was never intended, Tribole says.

Realistically, theres no surefire way to stop diet programs and wellness influencers from co-opting intuitive eating language.

The best you could do is learn to spot fake intuitive eating and tune it out.

These things are inherentlynotintuitive, and should never be framed as such.
